Icon Pendant (Sterling Silver)

It all started with a loaf of bread...
“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many? … Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted. So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.” John 6:9-13

Inspired by this miracle, in 1998 our founders decided to feed the homeless - right where they lived - on the streets of Austin. Empowered by their obedience to God, they loaded themselves into a green minivan packed with sandwiches and began serving and building relationships with those men and women who are so often pushed to the fringe of society.

Seventeen years later, shortly after the opening of Community First! Village, Mobile Loaves & Fishes Founder & CEO Alan Graham was given a gift. It was a necklace, one-of-one, handcrafted in silver by a volunteer in our Art House. The piece featured an image of two fish surrounded by five loaves of bread, inspired by the gospel story of Jesus feeding the 5000. To this day, Alan faithfully wears the necklace around his neck alongside a cross; a physical reminder that this modern miracle also began with a simple loaf of bread.

In honor of the 25th Anniversary of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, for the first time, we're now offering a limited release of The Icon Pendant, a replica of the necklace Alan wears every day. Fitting for our silver anniversary, the pendant is hand-cast from sterling silver, just like the original.
